British manufacturing needs Government's help to be truly great again
After many years standing in the shadows of financial services, it's good to see manufacturing back on the agenda in political circles. A turning point was in January 2009 when former Business Secretary Peter Mandelson said that in future, we would need "less financial engineering and more real engineering". One might argue this was nothing more than a political soundbite, but as a committed British industrialist, I was glad to see "real engineering" getting some airtime at last. telegraph.co.uk |
